Pewaukee CNG station opens as Kwik Trip bets on natural gas

natural gas, clean-tech, energy costs

La Crosse-based Kwik Trip, Inc. has opened a compressed natural gas filling station in Pewaukee, the eighth station in the Upper Midwest that it's launched this year.

Kwik Trip said Tuesday it's looking to create both a CNG and LNG (liquefied natural gas) infrastructure corridor along the interstate highways linking the Twin Cities with Chicago. Its other metro Milwaukee store is located in Sturtevant.

The ninth store -- including seven in Wisconsin and two in Minnesota -- is slated to open next week in Sheboygan, with at least 10 more planned for next spring, Kwik Trip said.

The Pewaukee store is located off Interstate 94 at exit 295 on Redford Boulevard.
