Mukwonago Area School District Superintendent Shawn McNulty said Waukesha County superintendents have decided to close school on Monday, Jan. 6 due to expected bitterly cold wind chill.
After learning Milwaukee Public Schools closed and hearing that Gov. Scott Walker is considering cancelling school across the state, Waukesha County superintendents held a conference call at 4:10 p.m. today. With the forecast indicating minus 40 wind chill, McNulty said it is too dangerous to have school in session on Monday. All after school activities are also cancelled on Monday.
According to the Kettle Moraine School District website, Kettle Moraine district administrative offfices will remain open on Monday.
Superintendents will hold a conference Monday at 11:30 a.m. to evaluate conditions for Tuesday, McNulty said.
Mukwonago families received a voicemail at 5 p.m. informing parents of the closing for Monday. The make-up day for Mukwonago has been set for Friday, March 28, according to McNulty.
