Mukwonago gears up for a turf field next year

Dec. 22, 2014 10:03 p.m. | The Mukwonago Area School District Board of Education agreed to covering $120,000 of a project to install artificial turf at Mukwonago High School at its Dec. 22 meeting.

In an agreement with Friends of Mukwonago Athletics (FOMA), the district would pay $120,000 of a project estimated to cost $720,000 to $800,000, with FOMA paying the balance.

The plan would follow a similar format to past district projects with FOMA, with the district loaning FOMA a maximum loan of $680,000, to be reimbursed over five years, explained Business Services Manager, Darren Clark. FOMA has a successful history fulfilling financial donations with projects in the district, Clark pointed out.

According to the plan, the district would not approve any vendor contracts until $200,000 in pledges have been received.

Turf installation would be done over the summer, with a completion date targeted for the end of August, before the first home football game.

Hartland village board delays vote on land use, zoning amendments

Dec. 22, 2014 8:45 p.m. | Village of Hartland - Residents for and against the proposed Riverwalk Apartment project will have another chance to voice their opinions about the development.

The village board on Monday, Dec. 22, bound over a decision on a land-use plan amendment, a rezoning request and partial vacation of the Oak Street right-of-way, which is on the proposed construction site, until the first board meeting in January.

Board approval of those items is not tantamount to greenlighting the project. The proposed site plans, and a development agreement, would still have to pass through one more thorough review by the village plan commission and the board before the project can become a reality.

That means residents will have some more opportunities to express their concerns to village officials before any approval is granted.

At the meeting on Monday, a handful of residents with homes adjacent to the development site showed up to protest the project.
