A 42-year-old Waterford man was pronounced dead Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 83 south of County Line Road in the Town of Merton.

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, the man, who has not been identified, is believed to have exited his vehicle after striking a deer on the road at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11.

He tried to move the deer out of the roadway, according to a news release, and while doing so was hit by another vehicle that was traveling south on Highway 83. The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as a 44-year-old Hartford man.

The Waterford man was transported by ambulance to Aurora Hospital in Summit where he was pronounced dead.
