A 52-year-old Pewaukee Man is accused of molesting his 10-year-old niece in the Town of Merton last year.

The man, who will not be identified to protect the victim’s identity, was charged Wednesday, March 5 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with first-degree sexual assault.

He could face 60 years in prison if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl’s mother first reported the alleged abuse on Sept. 6, 2013. She said in the complaint that her daughter was at a family gathering at a residence on Highway E in Merton when the incident occurred.

The daughter was interviewed by investigators and confirmed the account provided by her mother, according to the complaint. The uncle allegedly called the mother crying after the incident and said he had a problem with alcohol and drug abuse.

The girl said she believed her uncle had been drinking, the complaint states.

The man lives in the area of Prospect Avenue and Meadowbrook Road in Pewaukee, according to court records.

He is expected to make an initial appearance in court on Monday, March 17.
