Connie Casper, a 30-year veteran at Hartland’s Village Hall, will be retiring as village clerk on April 15.
Casper first worked for the village as a poll worker, but was officially hired in 1983 to help manage day-to-day affairs and oversee the electoral process. This year Casper will oversee her fourteenth election. She served for 10 years, until 2009, as coordinator of the annual Hometown Celebration parade and previously served on school boards for the Hartland-Lakeside School District and the St. Charles Parish Catholic School.
She previously said her father, Ken Race, inspired her to serve the community. He served as village president throughout the 1970s.
The village will be hosting a retirement party for Casper from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4, her final day in the office. Community members are invited to enjoy some cake and share memories.
The village is currently searching for her replacement. Deputy Clerk Lynn Meyer said she was not interested in the position.
