Jim Slawny, Town of Vernon Chairman, said he has had enough of "total lack of common courtesy and respect" on the Town Board and resigned during the Thursday night board meeting.
"I feel really really bad for quitting on the town. The town deserves so much more. Maybe I was naive in thinking that I could initiate change in the town, specifically in one or two of our supervisors who I feel have made the town a laughing stock in our community," Slawny said.
Slawny said it was best for his health to move on.
The Town of Vernon Supervisors and Clerk will hold a meeting on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to formally accept the resignation and discuss filling the vacant chairman role. It's also on the agenda to discuss how to fill an open supervisor seat, should one exist.
