Oconomowoc woman accused of stealing, cashing her brother's checks

 A 19-year-old Oconomowoc woman allegedly used her brother's checks to buy more than $250 of gas and groceries.

Mackenzie Anderson, N57 W37828 Sunset Lane, was charged on Wednesday, July 30, in Waukesha County Circuit Court with felony identity and misdemeanor theft.

According to the criminal complaint, Anderson stole the checks from a drawer in her parents' house.

She said in the complaint that she needed the money for food, fuel and other items, inlcluding cigarettes, to provide for herself and an unborn child.

Anderson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 15.

She faces up to a little more than seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted.
