In the midst of celebrating naming the Mukwonago High School football field after coach Keith Hensler on Aug. 29, Hensler and his family received news of a tragic accident involving his granddaughter in Oregon.
According to a report from NBC News in Oregon, Hensler's 9-year-old granddaughter, Isabel Franks, died when sand she was digging in on a beach in Lincoln City, Oregon, collapsed, suffocating her.
Friends of Hensler gathered at the American Legion Hall in Mukwonago for what was supposed to be more celebrating after naming Hensler Field before the game against Lake Geneva Badger. There a live auction raised $2,000, according to Craig Vertz with Friends of Mukwonago Athletics (FOMA). The group plans to donate the funds to the family to help cover funeral costs.
Vertz said plans are being made to set up a fund at a local bank for anyone who wants to donate money to help the family.
