Alice Baker Library holds meeting on future expansion
A small group of residents met at Alice Baker Library tonight to discuss the future expansion and how it is to be funded.
The Library Board President David Trevor, library director Alli Chase, and FEH Associates representative Gregory Baum led the group in discussions about the plan to nearly triple the size of the current space.
The library has been discussing this expansion since November 2011, but now has a tentative plan to make it a reality.
This plan comes with a nearly $4.5 million price tag, which right now is projected to be covered through a capital campaign instead of with taxpayer dollars.
However, there is no time line set on the capital campaign or on the expansion quite yet.
"It's a strategic decision and process that we want the community to be a part of," Chase said.
Afraid that much of the community was deterred by icy roads and drifting snow this evening, Trevor invited each attendee to come back and "bring a friend" on Feb. 13 for a follow-up meeting on the issue.
