U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working in partnership with other agencies to conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). The EAS test plays a key role in ensuring the nation is prepared for any type of emergency that could arise, and that the U.S. public can receive critical and vital information. WHAT: Nationwide test of Emergency Alert System
WHEN: Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. Central time in Illinois)
WHERE: It will be broadcasted on radio, television stations and other service systems. Will not involve phone services.
WHO: U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
