Dorow, Kapenga battling in 33rd Assembly District

CITY OF DELAFIELD -Community College Administrator Brian Dorow and Chris Kapenga, a Certified Public Accountant, appear to be locked in an early duel for the Republican nomination for the 33rd District Assembly seat with real estate broker Joe DeKlotz lagging behind in third.

Kapenga is leading the race with 464 votes, Dorow has so far 395, DeKlotz with 304 and Steve Ksobiech has 53 votes based on very early returns from six voting districts according to the Waukesha County Clerk's office.

However, those results may not include the City of Delafield where, according to unofficial tallies from the DeKlotz campaign, Darow earned an additional 603 votes compared to 551 for Kapenga and 425 for DeKlotz. Deklotz, who has been active in the city's business community, acknowledged he was hoping for a stronger showing in the city.

However, he noted results are still pending from the Town of Delafield and the Village of Hartland. The district stretches from the Town of Mukwonago north to the Village of Chenequa along Highway 83 and is considered one of the strongest Republican legislative districts in the state. Incumbent Scott Newcomer did not seek reelection.
