In the inaugural Village of Summit municipal election, former three-term Town of Summit Supervisor Jack Riley just became Village President.
Riley received 808 votes (59%) while former town chairman and current interim village president Leonard Susa received 570 votes (41%).
Riley's term runs until April 2011.
Riley thanked Mr. Susa for his service to the town and village and all of the volunteers who helped him with his campaign.
"I will try to live up to their expectations and to do the best for the Village of Summit," he said.
