Menomonee Falls upsets Brookfield Bulldogs

There will be a playoff scenario this year in the Land O' Lakes Western Division baseball league. Menomonee Falls saw to that Monday afternoon.

Playing at the Brookfield Bulldogs, Menomonee Falls got a strong pitching effort from former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Don August and shocked the previously undefeated Bulldogs, 4-2.

Had the Bulldogs finished 18-0, there would have been no Western Division playoffs. The Bulldogs are now 11-1 on the season and stand alone in first place.

Other games Monday saw Pewaukee pound North Lake 14-1, Lannon blank West Bend 2-0, Merton trounce the Brookfield Blue Sox 13-5, Oconomowoc edge Monches 3-1 and Sussex whip Hartland 16-4.

In Pewaukee's win, the Muskies pounded out a season-high 20 hits. Tom Zimmerman had four hits  for the winners and John Sarcia and Nick Wichser had three hits apiece. Zimmerman and Sarcia drove in three runs each.

Jason Henry went all eight innings for the Muskies and picked up the win. Drew Taylor took the loss for North Lake.

Taylor, the leading hitter in the league, had two hits for the Lakers
