Langer appointed to vacant Arrowhead Board seat

Local attorney Tim Langer will fill the seat vacated by resigned Arrowhead School Board member Jack Gutschenritter.

Gutschenritter resigned his seat in June, after announcing plans to move to Steamboat Springs, Colo. His replacement steps into one of the Board’s at-large seats and restores the school district’s governing body to its full nine members.

Langer is no stranger to Arrowhead. He is a graduate of the school, and he was an active member of the Arrowhead Scholarship Fund. He is also no stranger to education. He holds a teaching license from when he taught courses at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College and the University of Wisconsin Law School in addition to his duties as a full-time attorney at Hartland’s Langer and Petersen Law Offices.

Set to officially take office at the district’s August 17 annual meeting, Langer also brings a wealth of experience in school district negotiations to the table.

"He’s represented school districts in contract negotiations and grievance arbitration, so he’s got a pretty well-rounded experience in understanding the relationships between schools and all of the stakeholders," said Arrowhead Superintendent Craig Jefson.

Langer was chosen from a field of six applicants to serve in an interim role until next April’s open election.

"The Board was very impressed with the six individuals that stepped forward, and it wasn’t an easy decision to decide that," said Jefson about the School Board’s decision. "It was great to see the interest in the open position and the quality of the individuals that came forward. It was a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge about school boards and running schools."
