Ex-teacher enters not guilty plea for allegedly sending nude photo of himself to girl, 16

Waukesha – A former teacher at Lake Country Christian Academy in Nashotah entered a not guilty plea today to allegations he had sent a nude photo of himself to a girl in Pennsylvania.

R. C. John Rose, 38, of 1024 Chelsea Circle, Hartland, appeared in Waukesha County Circuit Court on a felony charge of exposing a child to harmful material.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 12, 2011, the mother of a 16-year-old girl in Philadelphia found suspicious text messages and pictures on the girl's phone, which led the woman to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.

Philadelphia police questioned the girl who said she had been talking with a man who said he was a gym teacher in Wisconsin, the complaint said.

The girl told police she would talk to Rose in an Internet chat room and the conversations would typically turn sexual and Rose would allegedly tell her the different types of sex acts he wanted to perform on her, the complaint said. Police found a nude photo, allegedly of Rose, on the girl’s computer, the complaint said.

Rose told Hartland police he would talk with girls between 14 and 17 years-old and have sexual conversations, the complaint said.

On Oct. 26 Hartland police seized Rose’s computers and also on that day he was fired from Lake Country Christian Academy. Rose was the athletic director at the school, where he also taught algebra, Bible class and physical education to seventh and eighth graders. Rose is scheduled to appear in court March 30 for a hearing.

If convicted Rose faces a maximum sentence of 1-1/2 years in prison followed by two years of extended supervision.
