Officer involved shooting in town of Vernon

On Monday June 2, 2014 at approximately 7:38 P.M. the Waukesha County Communication Center received a call from a citizen requesting a wellbeing check of her roommate who did not return home. We were advised that a 52 year old male subject from Big Bend was possibly sitting in his vehicle, which was described as an older model burgundy Buick Regal, in a wooded area off of Hillview Drive in the Town of Vernon.

At approximately 8:18 P.M. three deputies arrived in the area that the vehicle was believed to have gone. After checking the area they located the vehicle off the road in a wooded area and they attempted to make their way to the vehicle. A short time later a Deputy advised that they needed EMS on the scene and that shots were fired. At this time, the male subject is in custody with a non-life threatening injury.

The incident remains under investigation by the City of Waukesha Police Department.

The Mukwonago Chief will be attending a press conference this morning to receive more details on the incident.
