East Troy man sentenced for seeking hitman

Waukesha - An East Troy man charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill Walworth County assistant district attorney, a Town of East Troy police officer and a Village of East Troy police clerk was sentenced to six years of prison today.

John K. Gorman, 51, of W1340 Beach Road, was sentenced by Waukesha County Circuit Court James Kieffer this afternoon to six years of prison and five years of extended supervision for plotting to kill Assistant District Attorney Diane Donohoo, Police Officer Kevin Weber and the clerk with a hitman.

Gorman, who has been in jail since January, will receive 161 days of credit.

"No one should be fearful of walking down the street," Kieffer said.  "We live in this organized society so people can feel safe and secure and you stole that from them.  I can't allow that to occur."

Kieffer said after Gorman's sentence, he hopes he has learned that his anger "needs to be dealt with in a more appropriate and legal fashion."
