Antiquities destroyed at Palmyra by the Islamic State

Islamic State fighters advanced to the gates of ancient Palmyra on May 14, 2015, according to reports. There are fears the group will damage the ancient ruins like they have other artifacts in Iraq.

Palmyra is located 150 miles northeast of Damascus in Syria.
