Merton School

The annual Merton Community Food Drive runs from Monday, Oct. 31, through Friday, Nov. 11.

The clothing drive will accept donations of clothing for all ages from infant through adult until Christmas break. For home pickup, callDarlene Hafferman, 262-538-1380.

Volunteers are needed to knit or crochet mittens, hats, scarves, slippers and lap pads for the Mittens From The Heart program. Patterns and yarn are provided. Donations of leftover yarn from projects are welcome at the Merton Primary School health room.

Session 2 of Chess Club will run from 7:40 to 8:40 a.m. Thursdays, Nov. 10-Dec. 22, in the primary school cafeteria, except for Nov. 24. Registration information is available on the Friday Flyer page or by contacting Corinne Meissner, 262-538-1130, ext. 2010 or meissnerc@merton.k12.wi.us.

The primary school health room needs clothes for boys and girls in sizes 4 to 8.

Parent teacher conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Merton Primary School. Online scheduling opens at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, via Skyward on the school website.

Grades five and six will use a combination of arena-style and requested conferencing from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 15. No appointments are necessary for arena conferences. Parents will be notified for requested conferences.

Arena-style conferences for grades seven and eight will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, only, in the gym. Students are expected to attend.

Reminders

No school for Merton School students, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27 and 28.

Merton PTO meeting, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Merton Primary School cafeteria.

Spaghetti supper, 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, N67 W28321 Sussex Road, 262-538-1912. Cost is $8/adults, $6/children ages 5-10, free for children ages 4 and younger. Menu includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad, bread and homemade cakes for dessert.

Highway MD cleanup, members and friends of St. John’s United Church of Christ will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Beaumont home to clean up the church’s adopted section of Highway MD.

Trick-or-treat, 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, in the village and town of Merton.

Annual Merton Moms Chicago shopping trip, Saturday, Nov. 12. Cost: $28 per person for deluxe motor coach transportation, maps, and shopping and restaurant guides. To reserve a spot, call Jan Schneider, 414-313-5301.
