There is something extraordinary about summer sunsets over a lake. Brilliant colors are vividly reflected across the surface of the water which seems to bestow a tranquil, romantic feeling that adds an enchantment to dining out.

Waukesha County has several lakeside restaurants that provide breathtaking sunsets for your dining pleasure.

Edgewater, Pewaukee Lake

New panoramic windows in the formal dining room offer stunning views of the lake. But that is not the only place you can enjoy sunsets at this restaurant. There is a lakeside patio where one will sometimes find a local band to grace the evening and a deck where customers can sip drinks or dine while enjoying the picturesque gold and crimson skyline.

Artisan 179 and Seester's Mexican Cantina, Pewaukee Lake

These two downtown Pewaukee restaurants are directly adjacent to the beach, giving a sort of coastal feeling. Enjoy the sunset from indoors through their walls of windows or relax with your dinner and cocktail outdoors on their sidewalk seating and behold the silhouettes of sailboats against the setting sun.

Seven Seas, Lake Nagawicka

A long-established restaurant with an excellent reputation, this dining establishment offers breathtaking sunset views. Besides the incredible view from inside the restaurant, there are tiered patios and decks outside that provide a great summer experience. After your meal, consider sitting on a lakeside bench to enjoy the sunset while listening to the gentle splash of waves against the shore.

Bucky's, Okauchee Lake

The spacious deck overlooking the lake at Bucky's is a great spot to watch the sun slip away over the horizon. "The view is awesome because the deck is up so high," says Ray Bucholtz, owner, "and all of our deck tables have fireplaces in the center adding to the ambience." Savor their great food or enjoy a craft cocktail amid the richly colored sky.

Copper Dock, Friess Lake

Nestled in the heart of the Kettle Moraine and profiled in the book "Wisconsin Supper Clubs" Copper Dock guests enjoy sunset views via full-length windows that stretch to the peaked ceiling. "At sunset, the [cellphone] cameras come out, and pictures are frequently posted on social media," remarks one of the bartenders. Customers can also enjoy dinner on the deck, where they are surrounded by the beauty of nature.
