Women’s self defense
This is the perfect class for women of all ages. The course is highly recommended for mother-daughter pairs to take together. The class gives students the tools they will need to defend themselves when in danger. Class includes blocking and striking techniques. Class is from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 8 to Dec. 6. Cost per person is $30/resident; $45/nonresident. Cost per adult-child pair is $50/resident; $75/nonresident.
In this program for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, participants will be introduced to the basics of basketball. They will learn the various skills of dribbling and shooting the ball through various drills, offense and defense. Mini games will be played to help learn the fundamentals.
Class is Saturday mornings at Silver Lake Intermediate School Jan. 7 to Feb. 11. Cost: $35/resident; $52.50/out of district.
Robotics Lego class
Calling all sports fanatics in grades five through eight for Bricks4Kidz EV3 Robotics – All About Sports class. This program is perfect for both athletes and technical thinkers. Challenge others to a game of basketball or soccer after building these models and creating the software programs to controls them. Put your technology skills to the test when you create software programs for each model and watch them perform. Prior experience in robotics is helpful but not necessary. Class meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 7 to Dec. 26. Cost: $145/resident; $170/nonresident.
Cardio hip hop
Blast calories and have fun in this adult fitness class which incorporates easy-to-follow moves to the latest hip hop songs. This class is great for beginners or anyone who loves to shake it. Class is from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 3 to Dec. 22. Cost: $35/resident; $52.50/nonresident.
Morning zumba classes
There are now options to get your day going with Zumba. Tone and sculpt your body while burning fat in these classes that use Latin dance moves to get your heart pumping. New class times are 8:30 a.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. Fridays. The next session is Oct. 31 to Dec. 23. Cost: $40/resident; $60/nonresident.
