First Congregational UCC Hartland, 111 Church St., will host its Hartland Hometown Parade food stand, serving picnic food items on the church lawn before and during the parade Sunday, July 2. Come early for the parade and have lunch in the shade on the lawn, or carry it back to your chairs.

Church of the Resurrection
Join Church of the Resurrection’s social justice group, SOPHIA, for a discussion of Matthew Desmond’s book, “Evicted: City Poverty and Profit in the American City” at 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Beer Snobs, 122 Cottonwood Ave. This Pulitzer-Prize winning book takes readers into the poorest neighborhoods of Milwaukee and follows eight families as they struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Books are available in the church office; if you do not have time to read the book, but are interested in attending, you are still welcome to come and join the discussion.
The Chamber of Commerce’s June 20/20 Networking Event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, and will be hosted by and held at Board & Brush Creative Studio, 110 W. Capitol Drive, Hartland.
In 20 minutes, learn how to sand, stain, assemble and finish wood pieces. Chamber of commerce members from Hartland and Pewaukee come together each month for 20 minutes of networking, 20 minutes of education courtesy of a guest speaker and 20 minutes of questions and answers.
Preregistration fees: $5 for chamber members, $10 for nonmembers. Walk-in registration fees: $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers. Nonchamber members allowed only two 20/20 visits.

Hartland’s Hometown Celebration will begin its weekend of festivities Friday, June 30, at Nixon Park, 175 E. Park Ave. with arts and crafts vendor booths from 4 to 8:45 p.m. and a Hartland Community Band concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The community fireworks at Nixon Park will begin at 9:30 p.m. Live music featuring "Montage" will be played from 9 to 11 p.m.
Food will be available for purchase from the Hartland Kiwanis Club, kettle corn by Parkview General, frozen treats by Kona Ice and sweet corn will be available from the American Legion Post 294.
Book signing and reading of “My Two Elaines,” 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22 at the Hartland Public Library, 110 E. Park St. “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver” will be available for purchase at the event for $15.
