British Soccer Players
Youth can sign up by June 23 and get free British Soccer Camp swag to be ready for the camp Aug. 7-11 in Roosevelt Park. Challenger Sports brings professional soccer players from the United Kingdom to teach youth ages 4-14 soccer. The weeklong camp will include skill development, practice, small games and a daily World Cup. Register at challengersports.com by June 23 to receive a free jersey, ball, T-shirt, evaluation and wall poster.
Intro to Golf
Ages 4-9 will get an introduction to golf in this program that helps develop key golf concepts primarily focused on form, approach, swing, club introduction, drive, irons, chip, putt, etc. Classes meet Tuesday afternoons or Saturday mornings at Chaffee Park, July 25-Aug. 19. Cost: $48/resident; $72/nonresident.
Coed sand volleyball
Learn the game and get a combination of skill development and game play. This class is offered to those in grades four to 12. Class meets from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, July 26-Aug. 23, at the Roosevelt Park sand volleyball courts. Cost: $40/resident; $60/nonresident.
The Park and Rec taekwondo program is a way for those interested in the martial art to try it without entering in a large contract or investing a lot. Fourth-degree blackbelt Doug Scheerer teaches ages 6 and older in his Monday and Wednesday class. Sign up by the 25th of each month. Initial investment is $50 per person and includes one month of lessons and a uniform. You can continue to enroll monthly.
