TV ratings: 'World of Dance,' 'America's Got Talent' have solid starts

Talented. NBC's America's Got Talent returned for a 12th season with 12.3 million same-day viewers Tuesday — its biggest opener since 2011 — and companion World of Dance opened with a solid 9.7 million.

Summer openers. NBC's Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly (6.2 million same-day viewers Sunday) narrowly lost out to a 60 Minutes rerun, while AMC's Fear the Walking Dead returned with a series-low 2.7 million. ABC's Still Star-Crossed premiered Monday with a low 2.3 million behind The Bachelorette (5.7 million), while Showtime's I'm Dying Up Here (167,000) died Sunday behind a still-modest turnout for Twin Peaks (254,000).

Wrapups. CBS's The Amazing Race ended its 29th season with 3.9 million viewers Thursday; Starz's The White Princess closer drew 868,000 Sunday, when HBO's series finale of The Leftovers managed 263,000. And FX's The Americans ended its fifth season with 767,000 Tuesday.

Sports beat. The first two games of ABC's NBA Finals (18.7 million viewers Thursday and 19.7 million Sunday). Sunday's game marked the most-watched Game 2 since ABC began airing the championship in 2003. Game 1 of NBC's NHL Staney Cup drew 4.9 million, up from 4.1 million for last year's.
