CITY OF DELAFIELD - The 61-year-old woman who died from injuries she suffered in a boat collision on Lake Nagawicka was identified Monday, Aug. 14 as Jill Ladwig of Delafield.

Ladwig was injured when two boats collided on the east side of Lake Nagawicka at 5:51 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11. She died later at a hospital.

A 53-year-old Hartland man, Anthony F. Drewes, was arrested in connection with the incident. He was charged Monday with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

According to a criminal complaint, Drewes told police he was "super drunk" when he crashed the boat into a pontoon carrying Ladwig. The impact of the collision reportedly threw her into the lake.

Witnesses told police in the complaint that Drewes' boat was traveling about 20-25 mph when it t-boned the pontoon and possibly drove over it.

The Waukesha County Medical Examiner's office determined Ladwig's cause of death to be drowning with multiple blunt force injuries.

According to the complaint, police found several containers of alcohol on the boat Drewes was driving, and Drewes failed three field sobriety tests.

He reportedly told police, "Kill me, just kill me," after being informed of Ladwig's death.

Court records show Drewes made his initial court appearance Monday afternoon and was released on a $10,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1.
