Five places to get eclipse glasses before the big day

Shown is the solar eclipse above Gmunden, Austria, on Aug. 11, 1999. The moon smothered the light of the sun as the last total solar eclipse of the millennium swept across Europe toward the Bay of Bengal.

With the Great American solar eclipse just days away, people are getting ready for the first one to cross the United States in 99 years. But according to Business Insider, some glasses ordered from Amazon.com will not arrive on time for the eclipse.

Here are some local places to grab the special glasses so you can avoid the worry of not having them in time to enjoy Monday's once-in-a-lifetime sight.

1. Best Buy

The electronic hot spot has everything from telescopes to binoculars for the big event. And luckily, Best Buy has yet to run out of solar eclipse glasses that are advised to properly see the eclipse safely. There are locations in Woodland Park, the Garden State Plaza, the Fashion Center and Wayne.

2. Walmart

Walmart has almost everything, and solar eclipse glasses are not an exception. But the glasses are selling out on the website, so act fast to find the last pairs of glasses available in store.

3. Lowe's

Surprisingly, the hardware store is selling eclipse glasses, so grab some — and also purchase some home improvement supplies while you're there. A few Lowe's locations in the area include Paterson, Kinnelon, and East Rutherford.

4. Liberty Science Center

The Liberty Science Center is hosting an all day event leading up to the eclipse on Monday with eclipse demos, live broadcasts from states directly in the eclipse's path, and more. But if you have other plans for the evening, you can still snag some eclipse glasses here before the big day. But act quickly, glasses are selling out fast.

Go: 222 Jersey City Boulevard, Jersey City, 201-200-1000, lsc.org.

5. B & H Photo Video

If you're in New York in the next few days and still need solar eclipse products, B & H Photo Video has everything you need for the best viewing experience. Not only do they sell solar eclipse glasses, they also have an assortment of camera filters and telescopes to make viewing the eclipse the best it can be.

Go: 420 9th Ave, New York, N.Y., 1-800-221-5743, bhphotovideo.com.
