Sacrificing environment for money

Letter to the editor

BAILEYS HARBOR - This year will go down in history as “the year the earth started to cry.”

We use to think that our elected officials had our best interests at heart and are working for us; not any more. We now have a government that works for corporate America. The laws that are being passed both at the federal level and state level show us that money talks. Gutting the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Natural Resources and climate change deniers are examples. It appears that getting rid of those “burdensome” environmental regulations is their way to make America great again. Having clean air to breathe and safe water to drink do not figure into any plan of theirs.

The Hopi Indians have a saying, “You should water your children like you water a tree.” It seems to me that the powers that be have no regard for either one, just their pockets.
