The State of Wisconsin Building Commission unanimously approved the design and authority to construct a new residence hall at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater April 26.

Due to increased enrollment, UW-Whitewater has experienced a housing shortage the last 10 years, according to a news release. To meet demand, the university has been leasing off-campus housing and converting lounges into temporary housing for students.

The new residence hall will accommodate 410 students and feature a laundry room, a building-wide kitchen, a multipurpose and TV room and collaborative learning rooms.
