Life-saving blood donations are in especially high need in December, when donations tend to go down because of additional family commitments and increased travel around the holidays.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin's upcoming blood drives for Waukesha County include:

2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, Fox River Christian Church, S46 W24130 Lawnsdale Road, Waukesha;

1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, St. Mary’s Parish, N89 W16215 Cleveland Ave., Menomonee Falls;

2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, Menomonee Falls Community Hospital, W180 N8085 Town Hall Road, Menomonee Falls;

7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, Unity Lutheran Church, 20700 W. North Ave., Brookfield;

1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, Menomonee Falls Public Library, W156 N8436 Pilgrim Road, Menomonee Falls;

11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, Aurora Summit Medical Center, 36500 Aurora Drive, Oconomowoc;

2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, Lakepoint Church, S63 W13694 Janesville Road, Muskego.

Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 1-877-232-4376 or visiting www.bcw.edu.

Anyone 17 or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood.  Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are also welcome. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
