Col. David Banholzer, an Arrowhead High School graduate and former Air Force One commander, died Nov. 4 at his Maryland home after a fight with glioblastoma multiforme.

Banholzer was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison Air Force ROTC, and served in the Air Force for more than 24 years, logging 6,500 flight hours en route to earning the prestigious Air Force One commander position. He’s survived by his wife, Ali, and their two daughters Kate and Caroline.

Services were held Nov. 11 for Banholzer at the Joint Base Andrews in Prince George County, Maryland. Banholzer will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery on Dec. 7.
