VILLAGE OF PEWAUKEE - The Pewaukee High School Theater group will be bringing an early 2000s movie to the stagefront.
"Legally Blonde" will be the group's seventh full-length production, and they will start performances at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, The following performances will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18. The department will feature its new track system, which it installed last December that allows for productions to add drops into the set design.
The story follows a plot similar to the 2001 movie starring Elle Woods, played by senior Madison Moroder, a "blonde" and loveable sorority girl who is distraught over her breakup with Warner Huntington III (Cross Mendoza, junior), her college sweetheart. Woods goes to Harvard and hopes to win him back by proving herself in law school. However, Huntington III has moved on to Vivienne Kensington (Reynna Nelson, senior). At Harvard she meets Emmett Forrest (Anthony Desidero, sophomore) and Paulette Buonfuonte (Emilee Toureene, senior) and her old friends from Delta Nu Margo (Riah VandeZande, senior), Serena (Megan Loth, sophomore) and Pilar (Demi Derringer, freshman), while attempting to stand up to Warner, Vivienne and Professor Callahan (Alex Steinhaus, junior) and prove she's more than a pretty blonde.
Tickets are available at www.phsdrama.com or at the door an hour before each performance. They are also available at the Pewaukee High School box office from 11:20 - 1:15 the week of the show. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $15 for adults. Children age five and below are free.
Marann Curtis will direct the production this year with program director Laura Bengs on maternity leave, and James Sevens, the auditorium manager, will serve as technical director; Tasha Twesme as vocal director and Kate Mitchell as pit orchestra director.
