VILLAGE OF HARTLAND - A new beer garden will be open four days a week at Nixon Park beginning this summer.
The village board on March 13 approved plans submitted by Patrick Endter, owner of Endter's Sports Grill, to open a beer garden in the park from Thursday to Sunday, June 8-Aug. 20.
The beer garden will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, according to documents filed with the village. Draft and packaged beer will be available, as well as wine, soft drinks, pretzels and brats.
Village President David Lamerand said he hopes the beer garden will bring people into the village's downtown.
“It's been such a big success in Milwaukee," Lamerand said. "When Pat Endter came to the village and said he would like to try it, we thought it might be worth a try.”
The beer garden will be the first of its kind in Lake Country. The Hartland Village Board approved it on a trial basis; if it's successful, the board will consider bringing it back the following year.
“It's centrally located, and we're trying to encourage more people to come to the downtown area and the parks," Lamerand said. "We think this might help accomplish that.”
