VILLAGE OF PEWAUKEE - Stylists from a women's clothing company helped local women by providing them with clothing and jewelry at an event at Waukesha County Technical College's Workforce Development Center on Wednesday, May 17.

The stylists were from a Cabi, a Los Angeles, California-based women's clothing company. Cabi's philanthropic arm, the Heart of Cabi Foundation, donated clothing to an estimated 100 women from the Waukesha area as part of a weeklong nationwide community outreach effort.

Area stylists worked with six nonprofits to identify women who needed wardrobe and styling services. The women were clients of La Casa de Esperanza, Lake Area Free Clinic, Parent's Place, The Women's Center, Workforce Development Center and the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha.

Along with new clothing, the women also received free purses donated by the Women and Girls Fund, along with career counseling and LinkedIn training by WCTC's Workforce Development Center and professional photography services provided by Jonathan's Portraits. The group Tempo Waukesha also donated a copy of a book written by one of its members, Susan Marshall, which is called "Beauty and Substance: A Backbone Guide for Women."

"We were really excited to be able to collaborate at that level to show what women can do, and we can be in support of one another," said Tracy Josetti, the Heart of Cabi Foundation event ambassador. "I think it was really successful."

Josetti said she thought the women were overwhelmed with what they were given, and that they radiated confidence.

"Far more than it was about being in a pretty or cool outfit, they realized that they were deserving of these things," Josetti said. "The smiles that we saw were amazing. A lot of them talked about how they can't wait to wear this outfit on a job interview. It's far less about what you wear and how you look and more about what you can do when you feel good in the clothes you're in."

Josetti said that the Hearts of Cabi will drop off additional garments at the Hope Center  in Waukesha and a Dress for Success affiliate.
