VILLAGE OF PEWAUKEE - The village is jumping on the growing popularity of beer gardens with a "Parktoberfest" beer garden planned for Thursdays through Saturdays, Aug. 31-Oct. 28, at Kiwanis Village Park.
Proposed hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 2 to 8 p.m. Saturdays.
The park and recreation department is seeking applicants to partner with to run the event.
The winner will have a contract for one season, with the possibility of an extension if the first season is successful.
The beer garden is one way the department hopes to expand use of the park, which doesn't get much use during the fall, according to the parks department.
Interested applicants have until 4 p.m. Friday, June 30, to apply. Learn more at bit.ly/Parktoberfest.
Applicants will be evaluated based on their qualifications and experience in providing concession services, along with the reasonableness of pricing. Collaboration between businesses is allowed and encouraged.
Those who meet the initial criteria screening will be invited to interview with the joint park and recreation board in a closed session meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Pewaukee City Hall.
