VILLAGE OF EAGLE - Repairs are expected to begin on the playground equipment at Village Park after Kettle Moraine Days.

Members of the village's public works and property committee met recently to discuss what can be done to improve the playground. A group of Girl Scouts brought the condition of the equipment to the village's attention, citing unsafe and broken equipment as well as graffiti and graphic drawings.

"After the Kettle Moraine Days weekend, Steve Deegan, our DPW person, will begin by scraping and repainting the two swingsets a bright red color, and replace the chains and seats with modern, more colorful ones," said Village Trustee Mike Rice.

The committee is looking into options on cleaning and temporarily repainting the yellow play equipment to get rid of the graffiti.

Rice estimated new equipment will cost $60,000 to $80,000. As of June 13, $1,622 had been raised toward the new equipment.

The Village Park Friends Committee is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Municipal Building on Main Street.

Tax-deductible donations can be sent to the village of Eagle Park Fund, 820 E. Main St., Eagle, WI  53119.
