VILLAGE OF HARTLAND - Hartland residents know that when Summerfest ends, the party is far from over.

That's because they're likely looking forward to one of the village's largest annual soirées: the street dance, scheduled this year for 5:30  to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 15.

The dance, held on on East Capitol Drive downtown, features food, drinks, games, live music and, of course, dancing for all ages.

Milwaukee pop rock band The LoveMonkeys will once again headline this year's festival. Former American Idol contestant Tim Urban is also slated to return and open for the LoveMonkeys.

The dance is among the most-anticipated summer events in Lake Country, attracting scores of foodies and music lovers to the quaint streets of Hartland, where the dance has been held since the 1980s, according to the village's chamber of commerce.

Over the past few decades, the festival has grown from a single hay wagon and a small crowd to the thousands of attendees that now regularly show up.

The chamber organizes the dance, and member restaurants and service groups frequently offer myriad fair food classics. A beverage area is stocked with a variety of wine, beer and nonalcoholic drinks.

Admission is free, but carry-ins are prohibited.
