VILLAGE OF PEWAUKEE - The board approved the rezoning of a property on Park Avenue that allows it to become retail space.

Village officials on July 6 unanimously approved the rezoning for the property at 120 Park Avenue, across the street from Park Avenue Pizza, from single-family to commercial business district.

Scott Stollenwerk, the owner of the property, requested the change, which had been previously approved by the plan commission. A report by village planner Mary Censky said that Stollenwerk and a neighboring property owner remembered the property as having more nonresidential use in the past.

"It's been used for office use to this point, even though it's been zoned R-5 single family" Gosse said. "When that was brought forth to the property owner, they submitted an application to rezone the property."

According to notes from the June 8 plan commission meeting, Censky said it would be a barber shop. The notes also said that Censky said that the zoning was flexible in case Stollenwerk wanted to change the building back to a residence.

Stollenwerk did not return multiple phone calls seeking comment.
