CITY OF DELAFIELD - Two women were injured Wednesday morning, July 12, in a head-on collision on Interstate 94 at Highway C in Delafield. The crash caused three additional accidents and backups for hours, authorities said.
According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, the head-on collision occurred at about 10:09 a.m. when one car crossed a median and struck the other.
Both female drivers involved in that crash were transported to area hospitals with unspecified injuries, one of them via Flight for Life, the department said. They were not identified.
Three other accidents occurred as a result of the head-on crash, police said, but the sheriff's department did not know whether any of those accidents resulted in injuries.
The state Department of Transportation said Wednesday morning that the right lane of eastbound I-94 closed at Highway 83 because of the crash.
The lane was expected to be closed for about two hours, the DOT said.
The sheriff's department did not specify whether speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in any of the crashes. No additional information was immediately available.
