A local second-grade class got the chance to contribute to the 2017 Pewaukee Community Guide.

Pewaukee Lake Elementary School teachers Amy Eide and Erin Heiman wanted to give their second-grade students a class-based learning project (a project driven by students) to help them learn about their community.

Students chose an area of their community to research and learn about through mapping, attempting to answer the the real world question of "How do we teach others about our community?" according to Eide.

The second-grade class partnered with the Pewaukee Chamber of Commerce and the mayor of the city of Pewaukee, Steve Bierce, for resources for the project. Chamber president Nancy Waters also offered the class an opportunity to contribute to the 2017 Pewaukee Community Guide.

Students were asked to contribute information about Pewaukee relating to history, recreation and events for the 2017 Pewaukee Community Guide.
