Winners have been named in the 2017 Pewaukee Area Arts Council's Showcase of Art.
First place and $300 went to Laura Olson of New Berlin Eisenhower High School for her pencil drawing, "Rock Bottom."
Second place and $100 went to Allison Osowski of Arrowhead High School for her charcoal "Friends."
Third place and $100 went to Anna Reinhard of Oconomowoc High School for her ceramic figure, "Genetic Anomaly." Reinhard also took the People's Choice Award and $50 for her ceramic, "All Dogs Go To Heaven."
Teri Peterson received the People’s Choice Award for her watercolor, "Irises," exhibited in the Master’s Gallery. Peterson is a member of PAAC, artist and instructor from North Lake.
Artwork remains on display at the Waukesha Public Library through April 27. The exhibit boasts more than 300 art pieces created by Waukesha County high school and college art students and their teachers.
Seventeen honorable mention ribbons were given to students from high schools including Pewaukee, Waukesha South, Waukesha West and Menomonee Falls. Students from Waukesha County Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha also participated; a WCTC student received an honorable mention.
PAAC has hosted this free exhibit every two years since 2007. The first Showcase of Art event was held in 2000 by WCTC as a means to display artwork from students and teachers on campus.
