The Oconomowoc Area School District has announced four grant awards to classroom projects around the district, thanks to the generosity of the Imagine a Day Foundation.

About $9,000 was awarded to elementary and intermediate classrooms and projects.

The Imagine A Day Foundation was created in memory of Courtney Bella, by her father, Brad Bella. At age 10, Courtney was killed by an intoxicated driver in an automobile crash in April 2008. The name of the foundation was inspired by a poem Courtney wrote just weeks before her death.

This year, the foundation awarded the following grants:

  • Park Lawn and Ixonia Elementary schools: Amy Ciesielski and Stacy Yearling, $1,695 for a shared Ukulele Music Curriculum Program
  • Summit Elementary: Jill LaGrange, $3,995 for iPad art technology (10 iPads and associated applications)
  • Summit Elementary: Brian Stuckey, $2,000 for the annual Lapham Peak field trip for music, art and writing in nature
  • Park Lawn Elementary: Jennifer Jones, $1,535 for art room and performance technology
