CITY OF OCONOMOWOC - The weekly summer farmers market held on Saturdays is canceled this week to make room for the Lake Country Triathlon.

The triathlon is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Aug. 12 and racers will begin showing up around 5 a.m., according to race organizers. The event is expected to last until about noon, and 660 participants are expected.

The farmers market is held at the First Bank Financial Centre parking lot adjacent to 155 W. Wisconsin Ave. The start and finish lines for the race are at City Beach, less than a block away.

Road closures are also expected during the event.

Beginning in the early morning hours until about noon, Wisconsin Avenue in both directions will be closed from Main Street to Concord Road, Osborne said. West of Concord Road, Wisconsin Avenue will be closed to westbound traffic from Concord to Ski Slide Road.

The farmers market will reopen on Saturday, Aug. 19 for its regular hours of 8 a.m. to noon, according to the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce website.
