Donald Trump's campaign manager says she reprimanded Donald Trump for making disparaging remarks about a former Miss Universe, but she still thinks he helped her.

On Thursday, Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway appeared on ABC’s The View where she was asked about Trump’s comments regarding the way women looked.

“Did you reprimand him for that and say to him: ‘Listen, why are you saying women are fat? Why are you calling women fat pigs?’” host Joy Behar asked Conway.

“Yes,” Conway said, but added: “I think it’s beside the point.”

Trump’s treatment of women has come under new scrutiny following the presidential debate on Monday. Hillary Clinton brought up some of Trump’s previous comments about women and used former Miss Universe Alicia Machado as an example.

Machado, who is now a surrogate for Clinton, has been describing her experience after she gained some weight following her Miss Universe win, saying Trump called her "Miss Piggy" and "Miss Housekeeping."

Trump is not backing down. Instead, he’s taking credit for saving her from being fired.

"I had nothing to do with this person. But they wanted to fire her. I saved her job because I said, 'That's going to be ruinous' and I've done that with a number of the young ladies, where I saved their job. And you know what happened? Look what I get out of it. I get nothing," he told Fox News Wednesday.

Conway echoed Trump Thursday.

“She was in breach of contract and the company wanted her terminated. He gave her a second chance,” Conway said.
