U of L's Creque sets new kicking mark
It's been a bit of an up and down season for Louisville's kickers, but redshirt freshman Blanton Creque did some Saturday that no U of L kicker has done before.
Creque, a Collins High grad, scored 18 points in Louisville's 54-13 win over NC State at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, setting a new record for points in a single game by a kicker. He made six extra points and added four field goals from 24, 27, 33 and 37 yards.
"I thought he did a really nice job," U of L coach Bobby Petrino said. "We brought him out last Saturday night and worked extremely hard on our timing of everything and he did a good job all week long, so I was happy to see the snaps, the holds - putting the ball in the right spot - and certainly he did a great job of kicking it."
Creque has shared time with Evan O'Hara, who is 3 of 6 for the season. After Saturday's performance, Creque is up to 8 of 9. He's perfect from 39 yards or closer.
