U.S. Open viewership continued to wane as Fox Sports announced the second-lowest overnight rating for the final round in at least the last 29 years.

The final round round on Fox that broadcast Brooks Koepka’s first U.S. Open title drew a 3.8 rating, an 8% drop from last year. Fox pointed out it was the top-rated event of the weekend across all networks.

The only U.S. Open to have lower rating for the final round was a 3.3 in 2014, NBC’s last year televising the event. Fox and the U.S. Golf Association agreed on a 12-year partnership to broadcast the event beginning in 2015.

Sports Business Daily reported Sunday’s rating was the second-lowest on record, which goes back to 1988.

This year’s U.S. Open was the first since 1994 to be without both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Defending champ Dustin Johnson and former major winners Rory McIlroy and Jason Day all missed the cut.
