It was a tough third period to say the least on Jan. 6 for the Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago/Oconomowoc boys hockey team.
Hosting Antigo in a nonconference game at the Naga-Waukee Ice Arena, the Lasers scored once in the second period to take a 1-0 lead over the Red Robins. But all of that changed once the final period began.
Antigo exploded for four answered goals as they won the game going away by a 4-1 score.
The loss dropped KMMO to 5-6 on the season. The Lasers have now lost five of their last six games and three straight. Antigo broke a two game losing streak with the win and improved to 10-4 on the season.
The lone goal for the Lasers was scored by Ben Morse on a power play. Jacob Carfagna and Wally Haines had assists on the score.
KMMO goalie Joe Greilich had 35 saves on the night.
In Classic 8 Conference play, Waukesha leads the league with a 4-0 record. The Wings are followed by Arrowhead at 3-0, KMMO 2-0, Kenosha 2-2, Brookfield 1-2, Marquette 1-4, University School 0-2 and Greendale 0-3.
Arrowhead and Waukesha play at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at Naga-Waukee.
The Lasers will return to the ice at 6 p.m. Jan. 11 when they play at MSOE against Whitefish Bay. They will take part in the Hayward tournament on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14.
