The Kettle Moraine varsity girls and boys ski teams finished their circuit of six regular-season races Feb. 8 at Sunburst and now turn their attention to the state meet in LaCrosse, running Feb. 19-20.

The boys team, which took third place at last year's state meet, finished second in the Midwest High School Ski Conference out of 21 teams, behind only Arrowhead, with wins in five races. Junior Bailey Wichert and junior Christian Spencer were both named second-team All Conference. Wichert took a first, second and third during the regular-season meets, and Spencer enjoyed a first-place and second-place finish.

Freshman Sam Spencer and senior Luke Cerny were named honorable mention. Others on the team are senior Harrison Kraut, freshman Gavin Kudick and freshman Brock Gogin.

On the girls side, senior Ayla Gagne finished fifth in the conference standings, with three first-place finishes and two seconds during the year, and she landed on first-team All Conference. Other returning members of the girls team are junior Naomi Kalter, sophomore Elyse Robertson, sophomore Claire Sickinger, and newcomers include senior Elle Parsons and junior Kayla Asbach. The team finished 11th out of 20 at the Midwest High School Ski Conference. KM took fifth at last year's state meet.
