After winning last year's state title by 51 strokes, it was clear the Arrowhead girls golf team would be a dangerous threat once again in 2017. At the season-opening Washington County Invite on Aug. 10, AHS won by eight strokes, but Kettle Moraine's Abby Cavaiani secured the individual title.

The Warhawks shot a 328, which best second-place finisher Kettle Moraine's 336. Cavaiani's 72 edged Homestead's Speedy Kent (73) and Arrowhead's Emily Lauterbach (74). Lauterbach was the Division 1 individual champion last season.

Arrowhead's Sarah Ernst was fifth with a 78, and teammate Gianna Gastrow shot an 80. Caroline Kroeninger carded a 96.

Kettle Moraine was aided by Madeline Koenig (84), Julia Schilling (87) and Elizabeth Mantey (93).

Oconomowoc shot a 389 and Pewaukee had a 435.

For OHS, Madi LaPaz led the way with an 86. LaPaz carded a 47 on the front nine but improved with a 39 on the back nine.

Also scoring for Oconomowoc was Grace Suter (98), Macie Borgmann (102) and Grace Westerman (103).

Pewaukee's Cameron Kachler shot a team-low score of 98. Anna Leist carded a 103, Cece Berg fired a 112 and Morgan Carle had a 122.
