Mukwonago freshmen were key contributors to the Waukesha West/MHS co-op team competing at the South Milwaukee Rocket Invite on Jan. 7.

The squad took sixth of 14 teams with 167 points.

Mukwonago's Ethan James took ninth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 20.40 seconds, then swam fifth in the breaststroke at 1:08.15 -- the top finish in the meet among ninth graders. Fellow MHS freshman Nick Gerum took 18th in the same discipline, and MHS freshman Eric Cole-Boyer took 19th.

James also anchored the 400 free relay, which took fifth.

Gerum added 14th in the backstroke and Cole-Boyer also took 14th in the 500 free (6:01.21). The duo joined West's Thomas Fehr and West's Andrew Busse to take eighth in the 200 free relay.

West's Andrew Busse took second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.19 and added third in the 100 free at 52.15. Max Peters took fifth in the butterfly seventh in the 50 free.
